it's the new ending for The Homing Card by Francis Carlyle in Stars of Magic

not normally done to two pockets, and certainly done using palming

How can you get a deck to a pocket without palming? Maybe he was pulling your leg?

Here is the deal, there are many variations of that trick. Using both gimmicks, (and yes you can always add a gimmick to a borrowed deck of cards) and without.

The real trick here is the vanish of the deck of cards. Think about it producing them from the pocket isn't that complicated.

If it were me I would be thinking about a topit. This would be the easiest method but it does have a certain restriction.

Well I had my eye on my deck the whole time he was using it so not once did I see him palm off half the deck and pockter it and then palm the other half of the deck and pocket that half in his other pocket he told me that he found this trick in an old manuscripte

Just a thought, but just because you had your eyes on the deck, does not mean you saw what he did. In fact it may be you only think you had your eyes on the deck, ah the power of misdirection and a good, well constructed routine. Even the magi are taken to task. Like I said, I would go with a topit. Clean, to the point and easy to do.

Heh. I have speccies SWEAR I never touched the cards in 3 cards across. SWEAR ON THEIR LIVES.

Maybe his misdirection is better than you think?

Or, as suggested, he was just using a topit, or lapped the deck, or one of any number of ways he could vanish a whole deck.

Why not ask him what the thing is called?
