Room 101...

Postby grant_m23 » Jan 21st, '11, 14:04

Couldn't see anything like this on the board already, and thought it might be an interesting topic...

Anybody ever bought/studied an effect/book/DVD on the grounds of how amazing they thought it was going to be... only to find out it was, well, rubbish?

What was it?

And does anybody else out there use this effect/book/DVD all the time and couldn't live without out?!

What's so good about it?

I quite liked this dvd - some nice ideas etc. I still use one of them in my working set. I guess that's just opinion

My personal worst was "Till Death Do Us Part" - or something like that - biggest load of tripe I've ever had

Tenkai card to mouth! Haha

I must add that I got this DVD for free in a promotion. It definitely wouldn't be worth the shelf price!

When I was a bit newer and more naive, I wanted a professional quality close up pad and figured the more you pay the better, so I bought a Presto Pad. It cost £37 + postage.

What a piece of trash and an utter waste of money!

They claim it has been designed for magic yet the foam is too thick, you can't fit hardly anything in the "handy" pockets, it is uneven, the edges are rounded and causes things to fall off (losing about 2 inches from each dimension) and it is made of the worst/cheapest materials they could find!

I was convinced as it was being sold in the UK on well known online stores, including Paul Daniel's shop's web store.

Here is a video of the piece of tat with added convincing salesman:

That mat he waves at the start is far better!
