I recommend The Magic Book by Harry Lorayne as the best introduction. It teaches a few basic sleights in great detail.

get yourself the haunted key its cheep and will teach you a lot about presentattion and showmanship and may well get you bookings like me, i never leave home without it.

Gotta say I hate haunted key, it doesn't look very haunted to me.

I know what you mean.Ive seen some awful performances of it. You just want to say " oh dear, how long have you had week wrists? , i mean it cant even bear the weight if that key"

tom's right you have to concentratre on not turning the key, check out the threads on the key and you will see that most people when they get it make it turn over so fast you'd blink to miss it when the secret to good presentation with the key is to make it turn very slowly and even stop half way through by mental will rather than any angle thing.
my hand stays flat yet the key still turns, pm me for more details on presentation.
