Funny story re a Magic Circle audition

Postby Paul Gordon » Feb 4th, '11, 08:27

As some of you know, I've created a lot of adult card tricks; tricks ideal for hen/stag nights and (certain) pub work. Anyway...About ten years ago, I marketed a trick (no plug, it sold out aeons ago) called The Dog's Bo$£*&ks. Funny trick. At the end of the description, I cheekily wrote (as a joke), "This is the ideal trick to do for your audition at The Magic Circle." Well, a few years later I was asked (as a then AIMC member) to watch an audition (or two) in the Devant room. I did. Well, this young lad took the trick (T.D.B) out of his pocket. I saw it, instantly recognised it and inwardly gasped. Well, if a hole in the ground could have opened I'd have gladly leapt into it. As he finished it, he said, "...And big thanks to Paul Gordon sitting in the second row." More inward gasps and gulps as everyone glared at me. After his audition I asked him 'why'. He said, "Well, you did say it was an ideal audition piece!"

A funny recollection...

Everyone asks me that! But, to be frank - I didn't wait to find out!

Paul, do you still go to the Sussex circle? I came for the Jon Allen lecture with Alan mcdougal but have lost his number. What days do you meet?

Cheers Paul.
