Careers have been RUINED because someone saw a magician do a liquid production, knew what that prop was called, googled it, found this thread, signed up for the forum, read two magicians discussing if the workings of a prop were technically suitable for what he wanted to do, and then made a really trite twitter post about the mechanics of the thing. Ruining it for generations.

I really hate to de-rail this thread but I've got to address this issue. If a magicians career have been RUINED here because a method was exposed then I would have to say that magician never really had a career to begin with.
Magic careers are not ruined due to exposure. Magic careers are ruined for two reasons.
1- Total lack of business sense
2- Bad performances.
And I have to add that I have seen many successful magicians who were not great perfomers.
In 40 years in this business I have never seen or heard of a magician fail due to exposure. I have heard of magicians blaming exposure rather than admiting that they just didn't have what it takes to become a full time pro. But an excuse is all it is.
Please don't get me wrong. I don't like exposure. However I think blame needs to be placed in the correct place.
