Shorthand for remembering card tricks

Postby Hindu Shuffle » Feb 20th, '11, 14:35

Hi All,

Has anybody developed a good shorthand method for recording card tricks?

I was thinking of keeping a notebook with the trick title and then a sequence of codes to remember the mechanics by eg.

O/H Sh, IJ, Spec select/replace, L F brk, FSw Cut, etc etc...

My memory is not what it was!

Thanks.

I dunno about writing the mechanics down, but I find it useful to keep a copy of the script I wrote for it. I guess you could draw pictures in the margins or insert stage directions so you remember how the movements coincide exactly with the gags.

These day a short video is a good way to record it.
Takes far less time to recall it than some codes in a notebook.
and one backup DVD takes up hardly any space.

A back-up DVD doesn't feel as nice in your hands as a good old fashioned notebook filled with handwriting, doodles and drawings though!

I haven't got far enough to need a code yet, but I am hoping this thread will throw up some good ideas.
