Tips for a first timer.

1) Plan your day, you cna't do it all. I tried to cram in something of everything my first time and tired myself out so that I missed all the evening social stuff.

2) Go right round the dealer hall at least three times before you make your first purchase. The temptation to dive in and buy the first new thing you see is enormous, well it is to CUPs sufferers anyway.

3) Take some food in with you. M&S is very close by for sandwiches. The food in theWinter Gardens is sparse and pricey.

4) If you have a lecture you really want to see get there at least half an hour early if you want a good seat.

5) Take something like a rucksack to pack the inevitable purchases in. It doesn't make you popular in the more crowded dealer aisles but it does prevent you having to cart carrier bags around all day.

6) If you have someone to go with all the better. The worst part of Blackpool for me has been eating out alone!

7) ENJOY! It is one hell of an experience

Looking at the state of Lawrence on Saturday morning (well, lunchtime) at this year's Blackpool convention, I think I'll stick with Tabula Mentis and a Doomsday next year!

EDIT: Mind you, I did meet the absolutely lovely Morgan and West. Splendid chaps with lovely moustaches.

The word "zombie" was frequently used as I remember.
After a night in Synicate followed by hours in the Ruskin and barely any sleep i think it was a fair assesment!
On the plus side my kneecap stayed on the correct side of my leg all weekend!

Next year I will sleep during the day

It's December so time to sort out Blackpool. Looking forward to meeting up with old and new friends in the Ruskin Bar.

Just booked the hotel Roselea within easy staggering distance of the Ruskin, as it's only two doors away.

Going down on Thursday as we have tickets to see Tina C at Merrie England Bar
North Pier as part of Showzam.

I do plan on being there but I think I may be losing my job soon so putting off actually booking the hotel until Feb.

Lawrence sorry to hear that you might be losing your job.

I Know most of the lads would go for it so we will have to bring the Manchester meet up to Leeds in the New Year. After all you have been asking us to come to Leeds for a long time.

Lynda and I wish you and your wife a merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year

See you soon

Well, that's my tickets bought now.

Any idea who is on this year? Doesn't seem to be too much hype yet!

Will be nice to see everyone in the bar again. I'll be there with Beth from Wednesday

Well guys, I'm now out of work and if things stay this way for any length of time I won't be able to make the next mortgage payment; so I guess I may not be going to Blackpool afterall!
But hey, fingers crossed I find a new job tomorrow ey!
