Business Cards

Postby Edantes » Mar 2nd, '11, 13:47

Just a quick notification for you all - anyone wanting to have some business cards made, there is an offer on at the moment from vistaprint.com for 500 "premium" cards (to be designed on the site by you) for a fiver if you are a customer of play.com (used to be £22 odd.)

I just had a batch made up and was also given a free metal card holder for them.

It seemed like a decent price for what they are.

When you sign up you get a new offer nearly every day. They normally say free business cards, but once you add your print and postage it ends up being about £30.

Yeahum. I tried to make use of this offer but when I tried to use my own design it wasn't having any of it, and if one is serious about marketing oneself one ought to overlook the pre-designed templates, however fancy.

Kind of off topic but also kind of on.

When marketing yourself, this is not the place to be cheap. It always amazes me how magicians are willing to spend 20 bucks on a card trick but will cheap out when it comes to marketing.

This is yourself you are selling, putting yourself out there for the world to see. Doesn't matter if you are the best in the world, if you are going to cheap-out in marketing yourself nobody will ever know you are the best in the world.

Wasn't much over a tenner when I eventually got to the checkout.

I previously printed my own cards but they were bad quality and I wasn't very happy with them.

This is the first time I've tried ordering them from a company so I will reserve judgement till I recieve the cards.

i used homemade cards but the promlem was they always looked homemade. Then I used vistaprint and Im happy with what I got, including matching carmagnet, banner, and stick in the field sign. They arn't to everyones taste, but they are more than good enough for me. The only problem is that they keep on sending me metal card holders (maybe I can sell them here)

from cards I've seen by vistaprint, they have all looked awfully cheap. Don't scrimp and save a few quid here when its the one thing you'll be handing lots out of!! printing.com are great

Seconded for moo.com. The best thing about them is that they will send you ten 'test cards' absolutely free. If your U.K based they should arrive within two days.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Clients (especially in the corporate areas) notice when you use a business card printed by Vista print. It says a lot about you and your business to your prospective clients.

Get youself to moo.com or go and see a proper designing company and have some cards commissioned. Ive just spent £200 on a new run of business cards with printing.com and ive had spot UV done on them, they do look the mutts nuts, and people are already commenting on how nice they look.

The jist of what ive said, spend more money on your business identity, and you will look a hell of a lot more professional

I love the idea of spot UV on the cards! i must say that vista cards i saw looked so flimsy that i would not hand them out to corporate clients.

The front of my business card is a picture of me springing cards in an arch (you will see the photo I mean on my website)

The cards in the air have been spot UV'ed, and they look fantastic. They really do

I can confirm that, they're almost like small souvenir photos.
