A while ago I asked for help on editing music files - I wanted to remove a section of a file and save it as a separate file, so I could upload it to my phone and use it as a ring tone.
A program called "audacity" was recomended and it was just what I was after.

I'm now after editing video files - I want to remove a section of a video file and save it as a separate file. Unfortunately, audacity only works with music files - so does anyone know of a program that will do what I'm after??

On a PC, Movie Maker, on a Mac, iMovie

Both part of the operating system.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

This is not straight forward though, 'cos it's not just a single video file - I'm after a 20-30 second clip off a DVD and the DVD contains loads of files - movie maker will only let me import single video files so unless I can somehow get the vid in a single file format, it ain't gonna work
