Wounded Hand

Postby sleightlycrazy » Mar 19th, '11, 10:46

Earlier today, I accidentally stabbed my hand with a knife while cutting a zip tie. The cut is a centimeter deep and needed to be stitched to keep it from bleeding nonstop. Currently, my left hand is essentially useless; any movement of my thumb results in a nasty sting and the redness beneath the bandage growing darker.

No french drops, no zarrow shuffles, no passes, no pinky counts etc. for me for the next week or so. Hell, I can't even work on making gimmicks.

Moral of the story: be careful with your hands. Don't be careless and stupid like me.

You could spend the time learning all your sleights with your other hand

A few years ago I was separating two frozen burgers at a barbecue. I held them in my hand and stabbed down a sharp chopping knife. The knife split the burgers, the continued and passed clean through my hand, emerging the other side. It nicked a tendon leading to the middle finger of my left hand. I still have a small scar. The hand healed quickly, but it was two years before movement returned to the middle finger. The good news is that I now have full movement again. And I have great sympathy for those eejits who mess up Spiked.

Hope you have a quicker recovery!

Try mentalism. Apparently you don't need any playing cards for that.

*ducks* to avoid cans of worms heading my direction.

One more good reason NOT to perform a routine where you might injure your hands...

No. I believe that the afternoon after 4 hours sleep and 2 back-to-back final exams is a bad time to be messing around with knives...

I think even the most malicious of malevolent wills have troubles crossing the Atlantic ocean. But then again, Freddie's does seem exceptional

So much hate for the kid who taught you what a Zarrow shuffle is...

I don't suppose you can use your powers for some good and look after Japan?

I will use my powers for some good.

Howzabout I remove your self-importance for a week and bless you with a sense of humour. ;)

I have one, thanks :D

You know, we both come off as a-holes online. Being passionate about a point of view and being self-important are hardly one and the same...

That said, bless me; tell me a good joke.

And do put off your hexing until after april 7th. I have a talent show then, so it would be a shame for my hands to be damaged again before then.

If you want the show to go well, at the next fulll moon, strip naked by an oak tree with a Hopi candle in each ear and drop seven rabbit droppings in the nearest stream. This must be filmed.

The gig should be a roaring success. Failing that, you'll have a hilarious you tube video on your hands!

I love the three shell game. I use real walnut shells and the routine by Gary Oullet. Why am I telling you this? How does this help your current situation? It is what I am not telling you. I'm not telling the story of what happened while trying to split walnut shells with a knife to make two perfect halves. It was well over 20 years ago, I'm still not talking about it in details.

I just thought I would share because you cut yourself cutting zip ties, and cutting them makes sense.

Me? I'm just an idiot with a large sharp knife and a walnut shell. See it can always be worse.

Hope it heals up quick.
