The Art Of Mentalism By Robert Cassidy

Postby Ed Wood » Apr 11th, '11, 13:10

Anyone know how much copies of this sell for? I know it's out of print and quite rare. I just picked up a copy in a used book shop and I'm thinking I've bagged myself a bargain.

For those happy to read on-screen (or to pay a few £ to print it out), you can buy an electronic version from Lybrary.com.

Oh! I thought it was worth a fortune. Guess I won't be retiring this week.
Still, a fantastic book....Bob Cassidy is an absolute genius, he needs to come to the UK. I'd actually attend a magic convention if I though he would be there.

He holds the unique honour of being welcomed in the Intros section before he actually introduced himself!

Bob Cassidy was the first Mentalist I read who actually sounded as though he did this stuff for a living... I honestly don't think I can praise anyone any higher than that.

His "Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy" collects most of his important works (sans "Fundamentals", sadly) in one book, and is absolutely the real stuff when it comes to creating believable illusions of mind reading and related work.

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Why do I never find things like that in charity shops/second hand book shops?!

On a related (value) note, anyone any idea how much an original set of Max Maven's Color Series might be worth?

It was a lucky find for a few pounds but I do always check out used book shops and charity shops and 999 times out of a thousand I'll find nothing.
The colour series is quite pricey. Pretty sure the first volumes with the smallest print runs sell in the hundreds (not sure if that is pounds or dollars). Crazy really as the material is all available in prism.
Anyone know if Bob plans to publish anything else in the future, the world needs more of his thinking in book form and far less of most of the tired rubbish that is being produced these days.

Bob's legend but he's also a really sweet guy, I'm sure he'd happily let you know if you asked him :D

I've a fair amount of Cassidy's work. Still waiting for him to publish something on which hair products he uses though!
