Aren't these the guys that have a rule where only freemasons are allowed to wear the freemason ring? But seeing as how I am not a freemason, I don't have to abide by their rules, so I am free to wear the freemason ring, even though I am not a freemason.

Don't you just love circular logic?? hehe

Does that mean it's OK to roll my trouser leg up and bear my breast - or not :? ?

That reminded me of the sketch from the Monty Python :)

By all means Mandrake, take your kit off, but please post a picture :D To be honest I have always been wondering if you truly sport a long white beard and wear a pointy blue hat :)

I thought the article was interesting though, didn't you? A friend of mine actually mentioned that there was a Lodge within the Magic Circle. But he is not a Magician

Arkesus, it's a free country, I'm sure you can wear any jewlery you want if you like it. And a dress and some earrings as well if you so desire  Just kidding

I am aware of the Invisible Lodge, because i know several people in the states, who are members.

Billy Mcomb was a member , and I believe that John Calvert is.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Curses, all these years I've been wearing a pointy blue beard and a white hat - no wonder I'm confused....

Certainly an interesting article, a couple of my friends are Freemasons and they're always quick to point out that they aren't a secret society but a society which has secrets. I wind them up by pointing out that there's far more chance of being accepted as a Freemason than as a member of the Magic Circle - the MC requires talent whereas the Freemasons only require contacts  !

Actually, I wonder if there is such a thing as Masonic Magic, as there is Gospel Magic?

I had this discussion a couple of weeks ago after performing at a Masonic function. While no doubt I could have worked a great deal of symbolism into my routine, there wouldn't have been much point, because about half the audience were not Masons - and I imagine that this is going to apply to most Masonic functions that pay for a magician. I do often perform informally at my own lodge, but I rarely use much symbolism as it's usually just a quickie.

On the Magic Circle lodge - I've met a couple of members (one now deceased) who had another go at this in the Seventies or Eighties, but there definitely is no MC lodge at the moment. I do have a fantasy about forming a lodge for any magicians, though; there's no reason why this shouldn't work because there are plenty of special interest lodges formed around hobbies etc. If anyone's interested, please get in touch.

By the way, I haven't rolled up my trouser legs for years, and the "funny handshakes" are generally only used inside the lodge, not in the outside world. And I don't wear any Masonic jewellery.

Where I grew up there were a few masonic lodges around and many of the mason's are actually clowns, and they often perform at fundraser's for charitable organizations.

I guess that you could have a Masonic-themed routine. If you go the Dan Brown route you might thrill non-Masons. It's pretty easy to find Masonic badges etc, which could form the centre of an effect. Without even thinking about it properly I have Koran's medallion in mind...
