Linking Polos

Postby MagicIain » Sep 17th, '04, 19:24

Anyone own this?

http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=214

Basically would like to know if it's worth getting or shall I just stick with my rubber bands and CMH?

I figure despite the tricks being different, the reactions would be the same for both...

i had a gimick version of this a wile back and am not sure if it was an origional or not but basicly you take two polos, one of which can be marked and then place them both into you hand   and they link then you unlink them   and hand out the seperated polos.

another version in a book i have is basicly the same except you have to break one of the polos to unlink it before handing them back

The linking polo effect is in many magic books and this is just a routine with them.

(Sorry - had to remove the details - Mods)

Hi

I Object to these sites selling basically something that was in almost every magic book I bought when I started in magic.

The old linked polo can be examined if done correctly.

I have a small dissaperaing silk routine that uses no wires or pulls ----£25 anyone?

so are 90% of packet tricks, coin tricks, card tricks and expensive illusion's you sell.
so should we just tell every one how to do all the coin and card tricks so we don't have to work for a living  .

I'm suprised that a person of your experience and interlect felt it was ok to give away a trick just because you have already read about it years before, most classic illusions are based on well published principles, should we start giveing thease secrets away too, after all why should we make a profit from old principles that we have read before.

your absolutely right no one should profit from magic already published, so the sword cabinet uses......and the substitution trunk uses......
yeah like I'm going to wreck my bussiness...no way in this life time.

Hi

I have gone through my notes on this and it has been revealed in many books, on cigarette cards, Tea cards, on the back of cerial packets and TV programmes.

£15 ? - spend it on books --- Royal road to card magic, Encyclopedia of card magic, Tarbell etc or a good book on creative thinking.

I do not know if you retail this stuff, but get the impression that you do -I may be wrong.

Sure packet tricks are fine, but this is a forum where we the "Elder" magicians should be giving guidance to members.

Try performing with pockets full of "packet tricks" -- it does not work.

A good understanding of the basics of magic and miracles can be created.

Hi Paula
Nope... we dont retail anything on this forum. This forum WAS associated with a commercial site but for some time now it has soley existed as a place where like minded people can hang out and discuss the Art.

However it should be noted that secrets should not be posted onthe pages as it may REALLY p*ss off a)effect inventors and b) people who have just shelled out cash for an effect only to find that if they'd checkerd on the net they could have got it for free

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

fair comment illusionist .com do it all the time and i don't sell stuff but have used linking polos for sometime.
i have enough to deal with people like the masked magician telling everyone about the tricks that are my bread and butter now you are giving them away to the public as well.
if you take the time to check you will find theres always a few guests / floaters who haunt this forum and other boards seeking anything they can gleen for free, so if you want to tell everyone how the trick is done be my guest i wont be offended.

as you know magic is ludracusly expensive and i don't want to have to chuck a trick and buy and learn a new one just because you know it already and feel its common knowledge that should be shared publicly.
let the masked magician fans do some digging and reading on there own don't make it to easy for them please.
