I have.
I think you will find that you can know who has which disk and how many cards they are holding each, if you know which of the three instruction cards each has taken, and how many cards in total have gone. Unfortunately, the crib card cannot be read in the photograph, so I can't advise you on exactly how it works.
I've seen a couple of different tricks like this, but can't recall in which book(s). I have also seen something similar in a marketed effect with props, but that won't be much help either. I've always felt a bit twitchy about these sorts of effects, because I think a spectator will be able to make a good guess as to the method. Probably one of those things that's great for 95-99% of the audience, but as they said in an episode of
The New Avengers - it's the one percent that kills you.
It could make a very nice Diamond Jubilee effect because of the coloured chips. Get one of those Royal Britain type decks, or maybe a specific Jubilee one nearer the time and use those cards with it. Another option is to use something like miniature crowns instead of cards - maybe just gaming chips with crown stickers.
