Has this been covered before? I need some and it boggles my mind as to why cards with no ink on them are more expensive than those with.
Is there a card anorak who can break down the process for me?
bmat wrote:Actually they are more expensive because they are specialty run. Which means they have to stop the presses so to speak for the regular run, which makes it a process. And once the specialty run is run then the presses are 're-tooled' to go back to the regular run. Plus they don't print nearly as many so it like the publishing industry, the fewer printed the more the overhead goes up. The more interuptions for the regular run has to be made up in the specialty cards. And like everything else it is what the market will pay.
And no, buying blank stock and printing off loads of cards is not even in the equation. An individual simply cannot create a set up that would actually 'pay' for itself never mind garner a profit. Any reputable printing house wouldn't bother due to legal ramifications.
And I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it sounds good.
All I know is a gallon of ice cream used to be an actual gallon. Now if you read the print they are not. But the prices never came down, only the packaging and the amount they put in.
Oil companies have actually stopped producing oil in the oil rich companies because they have overstocked, yet the price of gas keeps going up. It is the world we live in.
