The greatest save

Postby Pandywooo » May 20th, '11, 23:11

I performed a card trick for a friend at work today, something to test my card control. To cut a long story short, I lost the card and i knew i'd lost it midway through the trick. Now instead of abandoning the process i decided to continue and see what happened, I thought I could come up with somekind of comedy (I have been known to throw the deck of cards at peoples faces and walk away, as long as I knew then REALLY well and so long as they didnt get hurt, the surprise on their face is amazing  .

Well It appeared to the spectator that the card was well and truly lost(which it was) so when i explained that I would flick through the deck and he would put his finger in to stop them at any time, I dont know who was more surprised when he succesfully stopped the deck AT HIS CARD! Woo. It was actually a bit of an anti-climax because it just stopped it dead...

"Is that your card?"
"Yes"...
"Really?"
"yes"...

Oh...Tada! haha

Tell us about your miraculous saves.

I'd been at a table in a restaurant for about ten minutes and was about to leave when a young woman said, "Okay, I'm thinking of a card right now. What is it?"

"Oh I couldn't possibly say," I replied. "It's incredibly difficult to read minds so directly."

"Oh come on," she said, "you're psychic or whatever! Tell me what card I'm thinking of!"

"I don't know," I said, "I really don't."

"Yes you do!" she insisted. "Come on, say it!"

"Oh alright, but I'll be wrong," I said. "It's the seven of Spades."

We laughed, we cried, we hugged, we laughed again. We met all her friends and shook hands. We almost got married.

One chance in fifty two. Gotta be worth a go.

.... reminds me of the time when I was showing a trick to someone. Card selected, "lost" in the deck (I'd glimpsed it so I knew what the card was) and I was in the process of rigorously shuffling the deck when one card flew out and landed face up in front of the spec ... yea you guessed it - it was their card ..... priceless :)

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Haven't we ALL had moments like this?

I was at a wedding once and was in the middle of a 2 card transpo / ambitious card routine when I had a guy literally grab the cards off of me, grab his own card, show everyone, shuffle the deck (with his card in it) as he shouted "come on then smart *rse, find my card" ...

Luckily, the 2 spectators had their cards, so I performed the rest of the transpo / reveal / vanish etc and he was (a little drunk? or maybe just far too cocky)saying to his wife "He's never gonna find the 4 of clubs" or whatever the card was ... How much of a save was this? it was amazing, because I just did a card to wallet with his card after getting his card wrong a few times, "looked the fool" then gave him the deck to search through as I said:

"Oh well, I always keep a card in my wallet, just in case a situation like this should arise" ... his face at this point was such a picture, I wish I had a camera :P

Revealed the card, got a round of applause and the guy was VERY gracious and even apologized and offered to get me a drink - he was bigging me up for the rest of the night too :D

It was quite some time ago, when I was even younger than I am now, and knew just about a single trick or two with cards. I was demonstrating that one trick to my friends, who were slightly impressed. And as friends often do, they wanted to challenge me. So one of them took a card from the deck, shuffled it back in and handed me the deck, asking me to find it.

What to do?

I shuffled the deck. I shuffled some more. I had no idea what to do next. So I just held the deck in my right hand and made the cards fly all over the place, until only one card remained in my hand. I turned the card slowly... and it was the selected card.

Phew :)
