It's all about blending the tricks naturally into each other, rather than sitting down and saying "OK, watch this trick, it's called such-and-such".

What tricks do you normally do?

Like, the other day I did A Poker Player's picnic but with Jacks, and I never uttered the name of the trick, so I'd be very surprised if someone could Google that based on my performance - what would they type in? Even if I'd done it with aces as per the original, how many tricks are out there which involve the four aces turning up?!?

Some classic presentations are quite Googleable - eg the ID . So either hope for the best and stick with the original patter, or change the patter. I have a nice "I've been experimenting with out-of-body experiences; name a card and I'll move my hand outside my body, into this box and turn your card over" kind of thing which I sometimes use.

its all about the presentation I think ... In Derren Browns book "Confessions of a Counjurer" there are some amazing hints and performance techniques which allow you to take a simple idea of a trick and turn it into a magical moment.

For example, if you want to switch a card dont just switch it and reveal it; do the switch and then cover the card, rub it on a flat surfce, get the spectator to touch it ... make the moment magic and the trick will become magic to the spectator.

Here is a great book which may also help:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magic-Showmansh ... 728&sr=1-1

The book gives some amazing advice on turning a reveal into a final magic moment which will invite an applause from your audience - the trick isnt suddenly "my card has swapped" its "WOW! He must have done something somehow but I have no clue how, it was amazing"

Hope that this helps, maybe post an introduction too?

Dan

Just strip down each effect and rebuild it in your own image.
