Flipping the bottom card(s)?

Postby FireAndThunder » May 25th, '11, 03:58

I've learned a fairly complicated trick that involves a number of fancy cuts & shuffles, but then I need to flip over the bottom 2 cards and it seems painfully obvious every time I do it in front of the mirror.

What's an inconspicuous way to flip the bottom card or cards in a deck?

Have them at the top (if that's an option), pinky break beneath them and in a move similar to the pass, reverse them onto the bottom.Instead of having the edge of the top cards "clear" the bottom, have them flip over.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

It probably does, since your mirror can't be mis-directed.

There's a bit on the Born to Perform DVD where Oz literally just turns the bottom card over in front of the audience, with a little misdirection. I think it's in the Ultimate Transpo routine.

So you tell one of them you like his hat, and when everybody looks you flip the cards?

He sets up the double-lift as he asks the guy his name or asks him to pick a color?

A greater move covers a smaller one

What sort of greater move can I use here?

No, to be honest I'm just confused as to what sort of move I can make when my hands are busy flipping the cards.

There's so much theory on how to do s*** like this.
But when it comes down to it the main answer is "when they're not looking"!
Then you only need to realise that people don't actually care about magicians and it's very easy to make them look at something else for 2 or 3 seconds.
