Preparing cards for manipulation.

Postby TDGinge » May 25th, '11, 12:34

Hi everyone. Richard here.

Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find it. Also hope I'm am posting this in the right place. :)

I love card manipulation and have all 3 of Jeff Mcbrides AOCM DVDs.
In vol 2 Jeff explains how to prepare the cards fr manipulation by remove a layer of finish from the cards and then Powdering them.

I wanted to know if anyone does this technique? Has something different? Or any hints and tip on preparing the cards fo manipulatio.

I just find the cards too stiff and need softening.

Now I did try Jeffs way but had never powdered before and put wayyyyy too much powde on them and ruined the deck!

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your responses.

Rich

"If you don't have a card clamp... get one"

Have you tried buying manipulators cards?

I have got a card clamp. Home made! :)

Haven't tried manipulators cards yet no. Needed a cheaper option and thought they were for more professional work.

Got to be worth a purchase for the practise too though! Buy 2!

I never made a card clamp; my alternative is Card College, that pretty much flattens a deck of cards.

And some people may dislike this suggestion but try using an older (read: worn) deck of cards; I find them easier to manipulate than new ones.
You're problem then comes with fanning them, which is where the powder comes in.
Play about, spend some money and experiment; seriously, it will get you so many more places so much quicker!
