Warning about rubbish business cards from printing.com

Postby Mr Grumpy » Jun 14th, '11, 12:17

[EDIT: printing.com have now agreed to reprint the cards. I'll let you know what happens!]

[EDIT 2: printing.com have reprinted the cards and delivered them to my house. I opened this post because initially they said they would not reprint. It's taken a while but I now have perfect business cards...]

Well, I've used printing.com for business cards a few times, and the cards have been fine, but this most recent time, they've misprinted my magician business cards, mis-aligning the colours. They look TERRIBLE. They look cheap and amateur.

I politely asked them to reprint or offer a refund and they've refused. Charming.

So, I would like to warn anyone who needs business cards, leaflets etc to promote their magic to avoid printing.com. They have shops all over the UK. They're huge. I guess they don't care about individuals like us, huh.

Can anyone recommend a company who treat their customers with a bit more respect?

It might be best not to let it drop with Printing.com.

According to the govt. website,

Consumer Direct wrote:"If you don’t hear back from the trader or aren’t happy with the trader’s offer, you should make a complaint in writing.
If you think the trader is still not treating you fairly, contact Consumer Direct, the government funded consumer advice service."

I use moo.com and i am very happy, but it depends on your style of card. Moo may not suit everyone.

I use moo.com too, a graphic designer friend recommended them.

I find the Moo mini cards are great to hand out (as they are cheap!) and the full size cards are great for working with.

I'll look at moo next time. Printing.com are expensive, which is fine if the quality is professional but if they look like I printed them myself on my computer, then what am I paying for!?

Huh, I've seen a few prints from printing.com and although expensive they've been nothing but top quality

It's all franchised so maybe you got unlucky and picked a rubbish franchisee? What was the reason given for the refusal?

The fact that they're capable of producing top quality isn't something I'm disputing; it's the fact that when they mess up, they refuse to reprint or refund. If you've not yet had a bad experience with them, good for you. That doesn't mean that I haven't though. If they hadn't messed up my business cards, I wouldn't have started this thread.

I forget the reasons they gave, but I don't think it's really relevant, as I paid extra for them to check the files before printing. If there was a problem with the files, they should have pointed it out.

I supplied files, they checked the files and said that everything is fine. They then printed the cards with the colours mis-aligned. Whatever way you look at it, that's poor service.

In other words, they haven't supplied what you odered so the contract is not complete and they are obliged to correct their errors or refund monies paid.

We've named and shamed several organisations in the past and (eventually) reached satisfactory outcomes so please post full details, names, adresses etc and we'll make sure everyone knows that the firm you dealt with are not honouring their legal obligations.

Apart from that, the whole point of a print job is to get it right otherwise it's no good - they must be aware of that.

Did you buy them online? Go into a shop and show it to them?

i always order through printing.com and they are awesome. As mentioned they are a franchise so not a company as such, so you may have just found a poor franchise. I've a greta relationship with mine and he always makes sure I get the best deal if theres one coming up

Ouch, just looking at it and for the price you are paying I would be ticked off too.

I always use Vistaprint.com and am quite happy with the results, very happy with the price. I looked at moo.com, but didn't like what I saw. I know others have a different view. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. I have nice glossy cards with full colour on the back too. That does me.
