I have an envelope containing 4 queens and whichever one the spectator chooses it is facing up wheras the other three are facing down. I have used this more than anything in the last 10 years or so. Its a cheap simple packet effect but my routine using it lasts well over 5 minutes.

Second to that I would go for Card Warp although to purists it may not class as a packet trick.

Sounds like B'wave, although the version I have goes 2 steps further. After being the only card face up, its also the only red backed card, finally all the other 3 "queens" are blank.

Looking at different packet tricks on penguinmagic.com I ran across a couple. Anyone perform any of these?

Trooper,

Brainwave uses a full deck I believe. The effect I use only has 4 cards in an envelope. Its a 2 second trick but after I've given the spectator an ID of cards and had them remove the 4 kings and then turn one round the wrong way I show that my Queen matching their king is also facing the wrong way.

It them becomes a 7 or 8 minute trick. All down to plenty of patter, and a story 8)

I wasn't talking about Brainwave, I was talking about B'Wave. Its a different effect and uses only a packet of 4 queens. That's why I thought it could possibly be what you were thinking of. Easy to misunderstand though, having very similar names.

Hey, Tenko - are you talking about Any Queen Called For?

I think that is 'Any Queen Called For', as Demitri pointed out.

I got my version from International Magic in London... pretty cool little effect.

If I was choosing my favourite packet trick, then I would say it is Elmsley's 4 Card Trick... one of the originals and best.

Where would we be these days if Mr Elmsley hadn't sat down and figured out how to do his sleight?
