Let me say hello.

Postby me_simon » Jun 20th, '11, 10:10

I've been reading this forum for a while now and thought it time I come out of the shadows and say hello.

I'm a 29 year old Londoner (though Australian born so I know how to be friendly to strangers) just starting out. I've always liked card tricks and it was only recently when I quit my job that I thought I needed something to amuse me in the interim. So, along with buying loads of books to read I thought I'd learn some magic.

After reading up on here I bought The Royal Road To Card Magic (~40% through), Bobo's Modern Coin Magic (~2% through - argh!!) and 13 Steps to Mentalism (~20% through). Needless to say my little mind has been blown.

In a short period of time the mysticism of magic has been destroyed for me - they're all tricks! I feel so deceived. :D

Hi Me_Simon,

Welcome to TalkMagic!

Those are good books. Also look out for 'Practical Mental Effects' by Theodore Annemann and then 'Mind Myth and Magick' [sic] by TA Waters when you have completed all those! :).

Good luck with your mentalism!

Keep me posted on how your getting on and if you want any help!

Peter.

Just realised I never returned to thank everyone for their kind welcome. I have been amazed as to how generous and friendly everyone is. Few online forums can manage that these days.
