I have an audition in a few weeks and for the audition I have to scare the judges in the audition room. I plan on pretending I can interact with spirits and then ask a spirit to enter my body, I will be acting possessed by an evil spirit. Please do you know of any maqgic tricks that would go well with my possesion? ie. Smoked (where smoke appears to come from mouth) something freaky and scary would be great.

You need to work on ventriloquism, so that when you become possessed the voice will appear disembodied.

There are several pieces that can work, starting with Tears of Blood and using "eye shields" to make your eyes turn white or pitch black, etc. there are likewise make-up techniques that, when coupled with lighting, can cause your image to contort and take on an array of fluid appearances.

All of this will give you a very HOLLYWOOD form of what folks expect when such things happen (less the levitation thing so many enjoy using, for which I'd suggest Flechner's Stool Levitation or something similar) HOWEVER, if you want to go for the more subtle and more genuine (this is what it looks like in the real world most of the time) frame of things, simply be a master of Cold Reading and being able to go into an obvious state of trance in which your physical and vocal demeanors change including the vocabulary and even language(s) spoken by the spirit.

UNDERSTAND: allowing an entity to take control of one's self is what Mediums are known to do; read up on the popular Seth movement of the 1970s and you'll get some idea as would the Lazarus tapes during the 80's and any number of others that call themselves "Channelers" (the entire Course in Miracles was supposedly channeled through a woman that was a devoted atheist in real life).

Demoinic Possession isn't a controlled thing and even within Occult lore, it is the one thing a mage took major caution around so as to avoid and guard against. To invoke such a thing is simply waay outside the traditional parameters of such things. So you may wish to actually study the category a bit more before moving forward with this assumptive concept or else use a "favorite thriller novel" as part of your intro, allowing the possession to come about as the result of watching "The Grunge" or "The Ring" or any of those other terrible but presently popular bits of macabre.

I was tempted to get LEAN but very expensive and difficult to explain gimmick.

I just need something subtle yet when combined with the possessed voice and act will blow them away. anymore ideas guys??

Whats the name of the trick where you get a marker, put a coin ontop, put a glass over. stand back and the coin falls from the marker? that may be good for my audition but if you think of any others please let me know guys! Time is running out

I think it would be hard to be convincingly "possessed" if you do an obvious magic trick during the possession. Likewise, I don't see how cold reading is relevant to a relatively short (I assume?) audition.

If you want to scare them, maybe you can do some body magic before going into possession. Say something like "I'm hemophobic and I've found that the sight of my own blood often weakens my consciousness to the point where outside influences can sometimes take a hold of me..." then maybe do the Harry Anderson needle while looking deeply disturbed before going into a short, acted out possession. After all is said and done, the wounds disappear.

You have to make your mind up as to whether you want to appear convincingly possessed or do it as a cheap stunt involving markers and coins. Is it meant to be a comedy piece or something that is meant to look authentic?

I however have the ability to see my spirit, i see him every day and he's my best friend. He has advised me that I should audition for this part as this job would be good for me and brings a bright future. My spirit tells me that he is going to enter my body and attempt to scare you. I must stress that I have only ever let Ronnie into my body once in the past and i can vaguely remember what happened. Ronnie will be doing all the work as when he enters my body I will just be a shell and have no control...

THEN I WILL START POSSESSION...

Im thinking of using Wounded by Robert Smith during possession. As the blood from eyes and wounded hands would be good.

What do you guys think. Be honest, I have a horrid feeling im going to make a fool out of myself! This could go terribly wrong

I hate this stuff. Talking about spirit possession can have a very devastating effect on vulnerable people who take that kind of c*** (not the best) seriously. If you are doing it as a comedy piece fine although I still feel uncomfortable with it. If however, you are doing it as a serious presentation I would heartily stay away from it. It is bloody horrible stuff.

Besides Ronnie entered my body a long time before he entered yours. I have never been able to get rid of him.

If you want to scare them the tricks you do won't matter, it's the atmosphere you create. Lighting is key, if you're going to be performing in a well lit room and you can't adjust the lighting, nothing you do will be scary.

Last year I had trick or treaters too scared to approach me and ask for sweets, all I was doing was sitting at a table eating food.

What made it scary was the long dark quiet alley they had to walk down to reach me.

If you are doing obvious 'tricks' the possesion part, unless you are an amazing actor, will be laughable and out of context like some camp, tacky comedy horror film. It all depends whether you want to be believable or come across as silly.
Posession can be done in the right setting and context, but for an array of obvious 'tricks' no one will find it believable.

"Ahhh...my body has been consumed by an evil spirit....what sort of hell awaits me.....what will happen....ah.. I'll do some magic tricks!"

Just think to yourself, "If I was really possessed, what would I do?"

The answer is probably smash up the room, kill the judging panel, and feast on their flesh. Would that be "freaky" enough for you?
