dealer stuff..
the problem with just doing dealer stuff on television,is somany people go out and buy the same tricks. And some of them are not that great.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I like Dynamo, I know a lot of magicians don't, but can honestly say I've never seen him do anything but dealer stuff.

The main problem I have with Dynamo is that he really doesn't live up to his name - he has all the personality of a wet sponge.

General thoughts on the show then?

I saw it with a few mates who seemed impressed overall, but it kind of reminds me of the first David Blaine STV Special ... lots of dealer dem style tricks, which could be purchased for £39.99 ... I did like it though, was great hearing where he came from, how he got into magic, how he seemed to "jump" to fame; was good to see that its pretty legitimate and that hard work does pay off :D

All the best to him, the show has been getting nothing but good reviews

I found his personality a bit more engaging than David Blaine - but I still prefer Penn and Teller!

The one thing that irritated me was all the B-list so-called celebrities that I have never heard of. What is wrong with entertaining the man on the street? I could also have done without his early life. Too many guys mythologise themselves, and it does not endear them to me.

Having said that, it was a lot better than I thought. I will watch the next instalment.

Fair play to the guy, he has done well for himself and had the right people behind him along the way. I hope he inspires other people to take up our fascinating art we call magic.

I kinda agree, BUT feel that this will encourage people to go and buy "self workers" and perform them badly ... introducing a new era of "hyper cool" street magicians ...

I enjoyed it.
Having said that.
There's not enough magic programmes on the TV, considering how much rubbish they broadcast.

Does anyone remember David Nickson?

.........Those were the days :)

I thoroughly enjoyed it - yes, there were a lot of Dealer-type tricks on show but I thought that he came across very well. I've never really had much time for him before but I found him to be a very likeable sort on the show.

As others have pointed out, it was very reminiscent of the early David Blaine specials but I suppose we have to remember that there's a whole generation of viewers out there who are too young to remember those - maybe Dynamo will be their Blaine?

Anyhow - any magic on TV is a good thing in my book, so I'm looking forward to the next one :-)

Loved the clip with Ian Brown too... big Stone Roses fan so was great to see King Monkey looking gobsmacked!

Hey, don't knock that approach.... that's how I started!! And, I'd wager, a fair few of us started that way too.... Buy a few self workers, get burnt a bunch of times as you perform them (badly) in pubs and clubs whilst you're out and about... If you're serious about it, then you'll stick with it, put the self-workers in the bottom drawer and get more involved in the craft.

If you're not serious, then I guess you'll put the self-workers in the bottom drawer and go do something else :-)

I got the impression that the programme makers have their eye on the US market, hence the scenes shot in Miami. On that basis I guess it's to be expected that the format would be tailored to the kind of show which US viewers would appreciate. The bit where the Police launch collected him from the river walk but made him lie down like some kind of casualty was rather odd but very similar to the end scenes of many David Blaine specials where he's carted off in an ambulance!

Good to see the individual routining employed for the dealer effects - a good lesson on why you should ignore the suggested presentations and those used by other performers.

Was there any signs of the input people like Danny Garcia had in the show?
Or was his work more presentation, rather than effect.
