For all you benders out there...

Postby Beardy » Jul 9th, '11, 15:42

I've been going through about 600-800 forks a month the last few months, and been using pound shop ones. I've found them to be very reliable, and snap after 3-5 bends every time, so you can easily weaken them for the drop off in front of the spectator.

But just a heads up - I was shopping for forks for a gig tonight, but I brought the pounds shop out of forks, so went to Wilkinsons. They had a pack there which they never had before - 6 forks for £1. Now I've been talking to wholesalers recently and the best value I found was 22p a fork. These ones at Wilkinsons are the perfect fork for the real-world metal bender. They aren't too soft, which any "real-world bender" will understand you don't want, but you can still perform all the standard bends in them.

At less than 17p a fork, they are cheaper even than my current wholesale option.

I know a lot of you will have your preference as a place for forks, but thought that I would throw it out there!

Regards

Love

Chris

I ordered 3000 forks from Wilkos a few months ago (the 4 for 88p) I can confirm that they are ok for bending. I did try the 6 for £1 ones about 6 months ago and they were no good, they must have changed them again. I will have a look next time I am in Town.

Thanks Chris

Tony

No worries. Just about to leave to gig with them now.

As an added bonus, check charity shops.

I got a bunch today at 5p a fork, and you can easily test them first.

Seriously - charity shops are the way to go sometimes!

Just to throw it out there, I went through 30 forks tonight, 2 spoons, a knife, and somebody even handed me a spatula which I bent, signed, and gave back.

The knife and spatula aside, the forks are fine for the worker - or at least the Wilko Swansea ones!
