Anyone heard about this new effect?

Do anyone find this magical upon reading the ad?

This is part of the ad:
They write their word in the air. And then you name it. :roll:

Sounds more like a game children would play on the backseat of a car, on a long road trip.

I'll be looking forward to hear any reviews, if anyone ever gets tempted to pick this one up. :)

There's some over at the Magic Cafe. I will not be purchasing. He seems to have only been using it for a matter of weeks. Maybe there's some worth it - but for me; I don't trust the sound of it.

Whatever the effect is I betcha can't get a random person to think of any old unprompted random word, despite what the marketeers say.

I suspect this is similar to something Paper Crane put out a while back minus a couple of props. Interested to see a decent review.

Isnt the method a bit obvious from the blurb? Might still buy it to see if my theory is correct. Sounds similar to an effect put out in the 1950s by Hyram Jacobs

Hmm... not sure.

It's certainly not _enc__ r___ing, and although there is, of course, a kind of peek, it's not something that happens as the letter or number is being written, but instead is quite open and oughtn't need cover. It looks about 70% participant management, 25% memory-work and 5% guessing. How's that?

Hello. :) I decided to "join" talkmagic to add a note about my (and Timon's) work. I'm not from the UK so I won't bother you more then a little. :)

Grue's percentages are just about right, although the book goes over one way that I always use to avoid memory.

I want to add that none of the traditional methods are used in it. I am aware of Technique, as released by PaperCrane, and I can assure you that it is not that effect.

I have only been using Air Writer (and it's predecessor, MMD), for a few weeks because they are entirely new. I've sent it out to at least a dozen people and everyone of them has has vouched that the method is entirely original. I wouldn't want to take someone's idea and resell it as my own.

The Air Writer does take practice, but there are ways as Timon discusses in the book to keep it almost entirely surefire while you practice this, and then move up to more adventurous routines.

I've probably already said more then you wanted to hear, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask away; as the primary creator I'll be able to answer most of them. ;)

I agree, most of the time it wouldn't be good. I think this might be an exception, however (although I'm decidedly biased).

how could this be appyied in a routine?, this isnt just another seemingly amazing technique which actually is almost impossible to include into any routine is it? i.e. can only be a trick in itself or simply is too inflexible to allow for ingenious imaginations to run wild with

Just bought it. It is utter genius. The moment you read the method hundreds of ideas will pop into your head. It seems impossible to do what the blurb says, but it's not. Will take some effort to get it all down but once you do the end results will be remarkable. Never heard of this principle/method before and, as with all the best ideas, it is so simple and seems so obvious AFTER you know it. I'm gonna use this to blow some minds at this weekend's gigs - BUY IT!
