Which Folding Coin?

Postby morrowsean » Jul 18th, '11, 20:14

Hi All, Ive had a folding 10p coin for quite a while now but not having much luck with it. Im lucky if i get 2 performances out of it, without the bands constantly snapping, ive even tried with 2 bands but still the same, plus the coin is not that convincing as you can see the split down the middle.

Ive heard that the 50p Coins are much better, im thinking probably because of a larger groove on the edge of the coin and bigger rubber bands which are used. Can someone give me some advice on what one i should get? Alakazam Magic are selling pro quality Single fold 50ps. What are the differance between single folds and double folds? Which is best?

Thanks!

Which is best is dependant on what you are using them for. Coin in bottle, two folds is best.

A) Make sure the edges of the coin are smooth and clean, make sure the same is true of the groove.

B) After the above, try a different type of elastic and make sure they are fresh, (see your dentist for details).

C) I know this is hard to imagine but the spectator should never get close enough to the coin to see any detail. Always switch the coin for a real one when getting close.

D) The manufacture of gimmick coins is quite a percise craft and as long as you are getting them from a reputable dealer, then you get what you pay for.

C) Not on your side of the great waters so I'm not overly familiar with which coin works the best.
