Just a curiosity piece. Does anyone know the history behind the A.Dougherty written on the front of the tally-ho box? I'm just sitting at my desk and of course I have some laying about, and this thought came into my head.

I did put a search out on the name, but the only thing that came up was something on the civil war.

Anyway, if anyone feels like sharing, please.

I googled this....

Before everything became conglomerated to be the giant that we know as USPCC there were a few smaller factories. A Dougherty was the head of one of these, which produced Tally Ho's. Samuel Hart, Louis Cohen, Russell Morgan - all names you'll hear associated with playing cards, that are either vintage, or have continued to use the names in the reprints themselves.

Oooh, I have just had an idea for forcing a seemingly random name. Something along the lines of add a number, only with names if you get my drift.

well ok, without giving too much away, several people add names to a list. then using an out-to-l***h principle, the name 'A Dougherty' is "added" to that list as you hand the paper out for more names to be added. Force that name and it matches the card case.
