Back to the topic - this Saturday's broadcast is a little later - 8.25pm to 9.25pm and features Paul Zenon (with a cast of millions, no doubt!).

Its a fun series - anyone know if it is likely to be repeated or released on tape or DVD? I miss half of it as the wife likes to watch Strictly Ballroom or whatever that dance show is called!

Not sure about a DVD/Vid release but I'll ask the Beeb and see what they say. In the meantime, this week's programme is on later at about 9.25pm so you should be able to get the dancing out of the way and watch the full show!

As a reminder (to me as much as to anyone else!) with all due acknowledgements to www.magicweek.co.uk:

MAGIC - Programme Six: Violent Magic - 9pm on Saturday 20th November (1 hour) on BBC 2.

The magician destroys ... and then restores
January 10th 1921, and a brand new illusion is performed in London. Sawing Through a Woman was to become an immediate and enduring sensation. It might be a magic cliché today but a member of that first ever audience described it as "like watching a murder in your own living room".

This programme tells the story of how magicians have always been drawn to illusions which feature the power of death and restoration. From the Decapitation of John The Baptist – the grisly highlight of the Elizabethan Mystery Plays – to performers like Penn and Teller and The Amazing Johnathan.

The programme also features Paul Daniels, and David Copperfield's sensational Buzz Saw illusion, where he actually cuts himself in half, together with rare archive footage.

(Now where did I put the VCR timer recording instructions again?.......)

According to http://www.tvmagic.co.uk/tvshop/jmm-marc-paul.php (right at the bottom!) Marc Paul has 'recently finished filming for another BBC show called "Second Sight" which will be shown this Christmas as part of a series on the History of Magic.'

Which suggests that there is either another series, more to come, a completely different programme, or they've got it wrong!
