Twisting iPhone on Dynamo

Postby B33RY » Aug 8th, '11, 12:45

Hi everyone I recently saw Dynamo perform an effect where he twisted an iPhone and it appeard the front of the phone consisted of half of the back and the other half the front. Does anyone know the name of this effect or where I can purchase it?

Thanks

Hi Mathew.

Ask yourself ...why do you want this.?

Dynamo has done it on television, and anybody who cares for this kind of gimmickery, would of already seen it.

Its probably a variation on an effect where you twist a deck of cards. If so its a one off.

if it is a dealers item its going to be expensive, and obsolete within 5 or 6 months, when a new design of phone comes out.

your best bet is to learn some magic, and create your own style, and effects that suit you.

Thank you that's all I needed to know, I have an idea of how this would work but wasn't entirely sure.

A fantastic answer Dale. That response was full of your experience and I couldn't agree more.
That would be a bottom drawer item for sure.

When I saw the effect, it simply looked like a simple sticker to cover one half of the screen to make it look like it has been twisted. So i doubt it's purchasable, but you can probabally make it by maybe buying another iphone cover and altering it or something.

I don't intend on leaving anytime soon if thats what you're implying, let's just say seeing him has awoken my interest for magic once again.

That is interesting, and I'm sure he wasn't implying that you B33ry will follow suit, but it is the case at the moment. Ever since that show, along with fool us has been on, there has been an increace of new people asking after where to buy these effects. I don't know if this is a good thing or not?! It may be good that people are interested in magic again, after all, if it's the cool thing at the moment, it'll definatly boost my gigs as well as others. I think that has more to do with shows like fool us where you see some really brilliant acts, where as I think that it's a bad thing with shows like this dynamo one. It's nice that it's getting people interested in learning magic, but I really don't think this guy is a good role model for new magicians to look up to.

As hds says im not implying you'll follow suit, i was just pointing out the fact that others, like you, have started threads with..... i saw dynamo do this....... and asking where they can buy it, then they disappear from the forum with their post count stuck firmly at 2 :)

Ah I see, well I will be staying for a long time, like I said in my introduction I previously learnt magic for 5 years or so, and the only reason I stopped was due to having an addition to the family, and now seems like the wright time to start again.

Maybe all these looters are Dynamo wannabes raiding JB Sports for their stage outfits?
