About a month ago I started reading Tricks of the Mind, by Derren Brown. Right in the beginning of the book Derren describes a very simple card trick and then moves on to several forms of build-up to the end of the trick.
It really got me.
Since then I've bought 30-40 decks of cards, a bunch of props, a couple of books and DVDs. I've been practicing on my co-workers and closest friends on a daily basis, getting a few things quite right and sometimes neglecting simple things like making sure the other person really remembers the card.
I've been amazed at the simplicity of most tricks and devious one can be to the spectators. I usually try all the tricks I see and I'm learning a lot in the process.
I already booked the hotel room for FISM 2012 but can't quite figure how to get a flight to Blackpool yet. I'm considering going to the International Magic Convention as well, later this year.
Saw all the episodes (so far) of P&T's Fool Us and several other shows; I am now going through The Royal Road of Card Magic - book *and* DVDs.
My girlfriend is starting to get annoyed at the constant sound of cards shuffling
