I have the hands of a 12 year old girl and all I can say is practice more and more. I found instructions for palming did not help me so the way I got around it was this:

- hold palm face upwards
- place a card on your palm
- curve your hand and curve the card
- find the exact spot where you gain maximum coverage
- turn you hand face-down and see how is left showing and be aware of that in terms of angles.
- now practice over and over again to get the card in that one spot. I'd say I still have about 2mm of card showing but a tilt of the hand saves me.

I found my 'sweet spot' is in line with the top crease in my index fingers (do we call them flanges?) and just below the one on my middle finger. It took a lot of practice but I got there eventually.

As many people will tell you, misdirections is just as important. Plus your hands won't grow (unless you're young) so your choices are to work at it or just give up. And by that I mean - work on it! You'll find a way around it with enough practice :D

Use misdirection?

All VERY good alternatives.

With the exception of changing the size of your hands maybe.

You don't have small hands, anything anyone else can do, you can do too - you've just got to practice.

Misdirection is key.

Failing that, gamblers cop is good.

If you ever convince yourself it's the surface area of your hand that is the problem and not practice and performance remember Rene can manage and he has at least half the surface area you have to work with.

I personally think that Poker playing cards are quite large things for anyone to conceal in their hands. I think it's about getting the card into the exact position in which the card is concealed completely. For me, in this position I only have a few mm clearance between the edges and the little and index fingers.

A couple of weeks ago I started to climb the hell that is The Pass. On my first attempt my tiny girl hands couldn't manoeuvre far enough so looking for excuses I trawled forums looking for people saying "if you have small hands you won't be able to do the pass". And I found people saying that.

But then I also found posts of people saying practise was the answer. And sure enough, weeks later I'm making good progress. The size of my hands had nothing to do with it. Sure, they don't offer as much coverage as proper man hands would but I can still do the move and am getting smoother at it by the day.

So, as a small handed one I can confirm practise is the answer. And I'm someone who loves to find an excuse to avoid practise.

Oh, and as for bridge cards, I made the decision early on to avoid them. Why practise on cards few magicians use? If you're going to put in the hours, may as well do it properly.

I know you can get them in the main brands but if everyone is using poker sized and say 'show us something' whilst handing you a deck then you're in a bit of trouble. It's easier to go from poker to bridge than it is the other way around.

It call all be overcome with practise one way or another.

Why practise on cards few card players use? Maybe it's an age thing, but all the cards I've ever played with were bridge sized. But I do live in England.

Oh yeah! My mistake. I forgot bridge cards are the norm with the layman here.
