Got sent a press release through for this. I can't make it, but not a bad line up
Some of the world's most exciting magicians, mind-readers and illusionists are appearing at Pocklington Arts Centre in a special ONE-NIGHT-ONLY SHOW on Saturday, August 20th at 7.30pm
Most people are unaware that the world's biggest selling magic magazine, MAGICSEEN is actually based in the Pocklington area, and its owners have pulled in a few favours to put on what will be a truly magical event!
Current WORLD MAGIC CHAMPION, Marc Oberon will be performing on Saturday, August 20th – performing his incredible world championship -winning act. Also appearing is top illusionist Shahid Malik who will be performing his famous 'cardboard box' illusion which has been voted one of the fifty greatest magic tricks of all time by national TV viewers. Shahid says he will also be cutting a lady in half in a really unusual way!
Magicseen magazine co-owner, Graham Hey says, “This is a special one-off event which people will remember for years to come. There will be a theatre show with FIVE genuine headline acts, and it will include magic, comedy, mind-reading and illusions. These acts usually perform in big venues all over the world, so it will be a great opportunity to see them close-up in Pocklington!”
World Magic Champion Marc Oberon said: “Magicseen magazine is huge in the magic world, and all the acts appearing in Pocklington are proud to have been featured on the front cover, so, when we were approached to perform in the magazine's home town, we were all pleased to accept! We're really looking forward to the event. The theatre has a great reputation – and I'm told there are lots of surprises planned!”
Later on the same night in Pocklington Arts Centre, there will also be a comedy club event featuring ace comedy mind-reader John Archer, who recently appeared on the Penn & Teller Show on ITV. The comedy club is for adults only, and will feature FOUR top headline acts, including Alan Hudson, and award-winning comedian Sam Avery. MC will be the brilliant Dave Twentyman.
