I too quite enjoyed tonights show. I don't think Barry and Stuart was meant to have trouble with the blades, but it made me laugh even more.
There were a few tricks that didn't float my boat, but you'd always get that.

Did anyone see Pete Firman on the One Show yesterday? I thought the trick he did was good on there.

I have not seen Paul Daniels do it. But not too suprised it had been used elsewhere.

Best one so far and full marks to Barry & Stuart for handling the glitch - if nothing else it shows that even the professionals can have problems with effects. Shame that Pete had to do the forfeit again but at least he made it comical! A huge round of appaluse ought to go to the backstage crew, they're rarely seen on screen but without them there would be no show.

aquarog wrote:For those of you who watched tonights show, what did you all think of it? I felt like I enjoyed this weeks episode more than the previous weeks. I particularly liked the card trick that Jason Latimer performed. I thought that Barry and Stuarts water to wine was cleverly accomplished and the Pineapple prediction that Pete did was fun too. (Who doesn't love banana costumes?!)

Edit: I also enjoyed all of the card productions that Juliana Chen performed! :)

The Levitation was simply beautiful. walking through a wall of beans was fun, but no way as good as Paul Daniels walking through a wall of mugs from 20 odd years ago.

Walking on water looked nice.. Please lets have no " dynamo clone " comments about it. Walking on water has been done by just about every television magician out there, and all have something novel about them.
The Slicer... best say nothing about that .These things happen.
Juliana was as always, amazing.
I loved Mel, she was full of fun
Jason's assistant was a proper magicians assistant. Her appearance at the beginning, faultless, and her bit with her nails, fun.
I also liked the drink through table.

People are talking about who did what first but no one has mentioned that Barry and Stuarts hilarious inept magician routine was a direct rip-off of Tommy Cooper.

I really liked the Mel and Pete's overblown banana effect. If it was a Naked basic with an out then it's proof that it's not what you do but how you do it!

yeh i think it created a nice comedic value but i didn't really like her attitude and the way she talked throughout the night, I know that's her famous stuff but she was a bit to posh for my licking :P

Really enjoyed this episode, much better than last weeks.

The Levitation was brilliantly performed, Barry and Stuart impressed again {even with the hitch!} and Petes banana routine was comedy magic very well done.

I thought Barry and Stuart's glitch was hilarious and they handled it really well. It takes a real battle-hardened veteran not to crumble when the prop goes wrong - live - in front of 6 million people - and you're left standing there, adlibbing, wearing only your pants. A description of what happened literally sounds like a magician's nightmare ("Oh, the prop going wrong when you're wearing just your pants live on national TV dream? Yeah, I've had that..."). Total respect to them for keeping it together and even making it funny.

I was disappointed by the Chinese lady.
it was just some card fanning, card productions and a snowstorm.
Then it just stopped. I was expecting more.

To be fair it was live TV.

P.S. I can't do fans and productions to save my life, but there are hundred of Youtube card productions and flourish videos that seem more exciting.

loved the ad-libbing from B&S.

???

Mate, I love spending time with you, and am looking forward to seeing you in march.

But you need to apreceate that Juliana Chenn invented every single method she uses in her act, except the mask changes at the begining, which are traditional Chinese methods. She is one creative lady.

She was off a bit on saturday though. Ive seen her gain standing ovations with that FISM award winning act.( The fist woman to ever win at FISM)

Having said that.. yes. It was just card fans and mass card productions. And at chineese new year too... Clever BBC!

Not seen her before. Just watched a few videos of her and they were much more impressive.
I'll put it down to the pressures of a live show.

that, and bloody awfull camera work. So far away. In close up , you never see a single card in the hands, and her fingers are always spread apart. And those things fly out of her hand. She scalles the cards, as she produces them
