I have childhood memories of seeing her on TV and being totally blown away. While it didn't seem like her strongest performance on Saturday it was still nice to see again.

I really love Juliana, although she didn't seem quite at her best on Saturday she was still lovely to watch.

Pete Firman's banana routine is just brilliant, we saw him perform that when we went to see him a couple of years ago so was great to see him performing it on TV with a bigger budget.

I too am glad that magic is finally starting to get some of the spotlight on tv now :)

Although it does amuse me how some of the tricks/illusions can go from down right astonishing, to just cringe worthy.

Les Chapeaux Blancs

Just thought I'd say that I thought their routine on The Magicians was brilliant! One of the downsides of getting into magic is that the feeling of astonishment at watching magic, that first made you want to learn it in the first place, fades as you learn more about the sleights and other deceptive strategies involved. Therefore I always enjoy to watch magic which reminds me of that feeling of amazement, and this was a great example. I thought the ending was superb!

Any magic people have seen recently that has made them feel like a layperson again? Teller's Misers Dream with the fish is another one...

Yep - they were STUNNING, weren't they?

It's just a shame that a lot of young-un's watching this on TV will probably be of the opinion that it was CGI

This series has certainly improved week on week, apart from the presenter still going walkabout in the middle of a piece to camera. OK, some of the effects tonight would have other magicians cussing because they know the method very well but never thought of the presentations used so it scores big time on that level, Pete's vanishing donkey on a beach had all the echoes of Paul Daniels vanishing an elephant in a field. Entertainment factor was very high and I think we can forgive some of the more obvious routines - three 'randomly' offered rings linking in a wine glass?

Grand Finale next week, hopefully all the stops will be pulled out!

Dont expect to be able to do that routine from last night. :)
There was a cut when the rings linked.
And, i wasn't keen on the u.v act. they flashed at one point, most of the effects come straight from the pasha act, and... unlike the pasha act, they just use uv light making the visuals harsh. I.M.H.O. :)

Would anyone other than a magi or a few chin strokers remember this though?

they didnt expose the effect, just a wee bit of the science behind it.

Just been watching the Magicians Live! (well on iPlayer!)

Really enjoyed this series.
Think they had a good mix of magicians, and although at first I didn't like the presenter, I think he's better each episode, and now I think he's perfect for it.
I don't know if Latimer will stay for the next series, although it would be good if he did. I like how he incorporates what the celebrities are famous for into his routines, eg Myleene playing piano, and George Sampson doing his dance in the rain.
Liked some of the illusions Barry and Stuart did too.
I was saying to a friend a week ago or so, that it would be good if they had a female magician in the team too, someone like Laura London might be good I think.

Also, not a big fan of the telephone voting, I think it might be better if they just finished with a finale, like all the team doing one big trick together?
And they definitely need to hire better actors for the location tricks!

Great show though, and glad to see it improving. Really hope it comes back.

It was still performed incredibly IMO, maybe exposure isn't the end of the world after all :p

I've been really impressed with this series. It's had its weaker points, as most things do, but some of the performances were incredible. Apart from anything else I've been really glad to have magic on TV, without it being mocked. Some clever twists on classic effects, and some stuff I hadn't seen before.

Thumbs up from me...

I don't think Hans Klok actually did 12 different grand illusions. Very clever and seriously well executed, with lovely hair and the requisite wetlook box jumpers, but different?
