Playing Cards

Postby CArlight1958 » Sep 5th, '11, 09:02

I've found a couple of nice routines which require
cards with certain animals, & other images on.

I really don't have the time to make my own.
So I was wondering if there was anywhere where I could order
special printed cards.

The Card Collection http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh ... 6003#a6003 sell cards of every kind, many with animals on the back (and some on the faces) Doing a search here (just type animals into the search box) should get you what you need. As far as I know they don't sell individual cards with these designs so you may have to buy the entire deck.

Thanks Pickman,

It's Frog's I'm after for a John Guastaferro trick.
He does mention he uses stickers to make up the cards.

I don't seem to be having any luck with this link you sent.

:? :? :? me, & computers :(

Sometimes, links to that site can act a bit strange. I did a search on there for frogs, the closest I could find was a deck of cards featuring various amphibians so that probably wouldn't work for you. You can buy special blank stickers for cards, on which you can print your own designs. Or you could cut some photos out of a nature magazine and glue them on the back.

I would be inclined to make your own, using a stamp like this.....

rather than stickers.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

see if I can come up with some transfers.

Thanks for trying.

If it's stickers you need I have the tools to create vinyl stick-on shapes for you? I would be tempted to go with the stamps though as stickers will be raised on the cards.

Thanks Ace,

I must agree, the stamp idea from dales sounds better.
I have a massive Arts & craft store not too far from me, so I'll have a good butchers round there, failing that, I'll
order one from the link dales put up, & maybe add a little colour.

Hello Ace,

In the frog routine by John Guastaferro he does say he uses stickers to make up the cards.

At the weekend I bought a frog stamp, & the ink pad to load up the stamp.
Trouble I am having is.
The ink just isn't drying :(

So I may have a go with some stickers.
I'm also after the gaff card used in "Ace Oddity" by Peter Egin (think I've pronounced that right)
for another effect.
Could you supply this also?

Cheers.

Basically I use a vinyl cutter to create T Shirt designs, I have a load of non-garment vinyl lying around which is very sticky (it's used for putting designs on cars etc.) . I can use that to cut you some green frogs? Drop me a pm telling me how many you want, what size and your address and I'll stick some in the post for you to have a play with.

Not sure what it is you need for the other trick, if it's something similar then, I can try and do something.

Chris.

Thank you very very much Ace.

I've just got off the phone to the company who supplied the frog stamp,
& basically I need a special pad plus solvent.
So looks like I have it sorted.

If you decide you would like to do the routine.
I'll post some pictures of the frog cards, & should you decide you would like to add
the routine to your act, I'll gladly send you a couple of sets of cards along.

Thanks again for you very kind offer.

Hello Ace, & Dales,

The sticker frog thing went out of the window a few weeks back.
I did get a stamp Dales, but the detail just wasn't good enough for me.
So here's what I have come up with.

I downloaded a frog image of my choice from the net.
I messed with the colour a little, & the size, until I was happy with the end result.

I then printed the frog onto a piece of A4 paper.
Centred a blank card over the printed image, & drew a pencil line around the card.
I then cut out a space where the card was.
I now had a piece of A4 paper with a square card hole cut out, where the image was.
I placed this piece of A4 paper over another one, & drew a pencil line where the card would print should I load it in again.
I now have a piece of A4 paper with the outline of a playing card on.

I got a blank faced card, & placed some double sided tape onto the back of the card, &
placed it onto the outline of the A4 paper, & reloaded it through the printer.

Looks really good, & just what I wanted.
When I sus out how to use my phone to take some photos, I'll put them up for you to look at.

Hope you can understand this explanation.
