Sleight or effect... which first

you dont call yourself a magician.

other people do that for you, when they see you perform magic.

and to answer the original question,the most important thing is, what ever gets the job done.
sometimes it's a slight, sometimes its a gaff, usuaky it's a bot of both.

When you are not bothered about how many slights you can do and are not intretsted in the effect your stuff has on other magic club members. I think you are well on your was to becomming a magician.
