A new Coin Vanish

Postby LloydRamsey » Sep 9th, '11, 17:46

This is a new coin vanish that I have created. I did not perform it as well as I should have. But I need feedback.

Sorry, mate but it's pretty obvious.

Plus, I think your ceiling fan is about to fall down.

It's obvious to a magician, but I was doing a vanish not unlike this about 5-odd years ago, and it flies by the layman.

So on that note, what you did was pretty much perfect, as long as your aim was to fool laypeople :)

True. A bit like sleight-of-elbow.

I should actually say that your coin "handling" once the actual vanish has been done is pretty smooth, mate.

Nope - obviously nothing new in this and - sorry to be harsh - but I showed this to a couple of my non-magical friends this morning, for a lay-persons perspective for you, and they both clicked where the coin was being held/retrieved from immediately.

It could well be, as you say, that it's not performed as well as it could be but...if that IS the case, why not wait until you're far more polished, before posting a vid like this? Even though it's not a unique handling, practise STILL helps, ya know

Like others have said the idea isnt anything new. I used to use a similar idea in my sponge ball routine.

Theres nothing wrong with the idea, and as Beardy said its perfectly deceptive when performing to the lay. You need to put more work into it though as its your handling thats letting you down - as is, its a bit too clumsy looking.

    Thank you very very much

    Postby LloydRamsey » Sep 15th, '11, 17:28

thanks, I have been doin magic for a while but I am just a newbie as I have baught nothing except for decks of cards. I watch ellusionist videos over and over until I see the secret. I have figured out that with a certain way of thinking, you can figure out anything

This is to fool the lay, thank you for the feedback. I have fooled about 15 people with this, There is no other magicians where I live, at all literally. As for the coin handling after the coin was gone, I was told it was smooth, I was wondering that thank you. I thought for some reason it might be ok after learning alchamy theory 11. That move was ridiculus how knack it was. I cannot perform a trick like that. I wish I could. Finding the right sleeve is impossible!

Well, I got plenty of feedback alot faster than I thought, I take nothing harsh I respect critisism even if it seems harsh. Its the truth and thats what I needed. I cant believe that I submitted this to ellusionist.com they must be laughing hard right now.

I have a great card trick I am going to film when I get a pack of cards.

Jay Sankey did something similar, but he kept the attention on his hands, not his arms or sleeves. Check out some of his older coin stuff; I think you'll find ideas you'll like.

I showed it to my five-year old daughter last night and she immediately said "I know where he hid the coin" - then she pointed to where I suspect you did. Note that this isn't meant as a criticism, just a statement of a response to the video.

Fair play to you for opening yourself up for criticism though, very brave and a good way to get feedback. :)

    New Developmant Please Give Feedback!!

    Postby LloydRamsey » Sep 18th, '11, 17:35

I just came up with this when I was getting frustrated with learning a new trick. This is a lot better than that bogus thing I "came up with before". Please leave feedback. I think youll find this a bit more... deceptive
