Favourite effect with TT?

Postby Alfred Borden » Sep 9th, '11, 22:31

At the moment am disposing of a cigarette and then to finish clean am plucking cards out of my pocket to rest on my fist..then leading into a card trick

Anyone else use a TT for a regular routine?

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...

Don't underestimate the power of the TT pal

Try the cigarette effect and check the reactions :D

...Mostly folks pulling faces, and reminding you that smoking's not all that socially-acceptable nowadays

There's plenty of killer TT effects out there which don't involve ciggies, some far, far more effective :D

I don't really have a favourite, per say - if I'm around kids, a vanishing/reappearing silk never fails to drop their little jaw-bones (and will mostly do the same with their parents, I've increasingly found of late!).

If I'm messing with mates, or the older crowd, it's great to use for billet work.

That said, there's literally hundreds of uses for the humble TT; just sticking to one is perhaps selling your skills short

Yeah fair point, and I agree, I just like the fact that the cigarette vanish has a somewhat practical use

Having said that, I hate smoking with a vengence, and the scrubbing of my hands afterwards gets tiring!

Nearly all laymen know about them. But how did they know you were using one?

A quite clever use of the TT is Ben Harris' 'Poltergeist Ball', a routine with sponge balls, where the balls are made to penetrate through a table (or spectator's hand) but get visibly stuck, halfway through. There is an unusual vanish method using the TT in the routine that I had never seen before.

Steve Dusheck has a book 'TT Magic' which features some really strange and offbeat uses of the TT; cutting them up and customising them in some very interesting ways!

The tt, along with the exp***ed sh**l are two of the greatest gimmicks ever invented for magic in my opinion.
I use the tt for a few things, mainly a b**l sw***h / bill to impossible location, cut and restored ribbon, and yes the old ''hanky trick'' :) - its not presented as a vanish and the hanky isnt red, but thats all im saying

I also use it to aid in the vanish of a three quarter card using flash paper. I was never happy with the usual ''oh wrong pocket'' shu***e pass nonsense, so came up with my own cleaner approach.

I use it for a bill switch, and for a streamer vanish in my kids show.
