Uri Geller on daybreak !

Postby jon_kent » Sep 22nd, '11, 09:07

Uri was just on daybreak talking about the psychic benifit cheat women, saying how he believes that she has real powers and that many others can contact the dead :? That Dr. Hilary bloke is sitting next to him to give a Dr/science opinion about cold reading, Uri told the Dr earlier to draw a picture and keep it on him and Uri attempts to read his mind so he starts scribbling and does a weird sort of animal drawing but you cant really make out what it is, you then see the look of surprise and disapointment on the Dr's face as he says its pretty close actually and he pulls his drawing out and its a porkupine/dinosaur sort of thing lol and it really is quite close !

Hopefully it'll be on youtube soon for anyone that missed it.

This just about sums up what really gets people's goat about Geller.

I wonder if anyone has ever been tempted just to lie and say that Uri's drawing was wrong just to see his reaction. It would be interesting to see if he would just go with it and say he'd failed on that occasion or if he'd argue about it.

I have seen him fail before and his stock line is:

Before this thread turns into a Uri bashing thread...( And it will ) I think it would be worth watching it again.

He was very carefull in his choice of words when he was talking about Sally Morgan, and her supposed use of ear pieces in her act.

He Illustrated this, by showing a copy of New Scientist, which "exposed" his micro transmitter burried in his tooth. in those days, this technology was pie in the sky stuff.. Though today, i think it is safe to say that the Jaw bone transmitter is out there, and in use.

He was also very keen to point out that he is an entertainer, first and foremost. His brand of entertainment isnt that far off of ours. ( pretty darn near spot on in some cases)
And interestingly enough, he did say that he believed that you might be able to communicate with spirits.. a common held belief thank god.. if it wasnt i dont think our saturday nights would be as fun as they are, in all those spooky places we frequent for cash..

the Dinosaur was an unusual thing to have on a drawing dupe. Yet, considering just how many shows were on the box last night, I am sure its something that could be sugested in advance one way or another.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Yup. He says that now. I think when he appeared on Best of Magic doing a magic trick he really had given up lying to the public about any powers he doesn't have.

And about time.

I remember an interview in which he said his "powers" were bestowed upon him by "aliens". That must have been an interesting day on the kibbutz...

ALIEN: "We are here to grant you superhuman powers!"
    GELLER: "Wow! What powers???"
    ALIEN: "The power..."
    GELLER: "Yes..."
    ALIEN: "To bend forks!"
GELLER: "Er, great. You said powers plural?"
ALIEN: "Spoons! They will also bend at your touch, and occasionally knives!"

Now all we need is Derren Brown standing up and admitting it was a just a n*** w****** and nothing to do with psychology and body language, and everyone's happy!

Not at all. I'm happy for Mr Brown to continue saying at the start of his show he is a magician.

I thought that was pretty impressive. I don't know why everyone seems to have a go at Uri Geller, he's a good magician when you strip away the improbability of the whole psychic thing. Most of the people criticising couldn't do a better job anyway.
