Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Glad if I've helped at all. To tell the truth, I am not much of a card person, so I shall now bow out and let someone far better qualified deal with those questions!

Open with something either self working or pretty much inmpossible to get wrong.

You will receive commendation once you've completed it and the buzz will relax you and carry you through the remaining seven minutes. :)

1 Don't try more than 3 or 4 tricks in 10 minutes.
If it is has to be 4..Then --No.1 is short. No. 2 a bit longer. No. 3 your longest and No. 4
about as long as No. 2..If No. 4 is particularly strong you can go to the same timing as No. 3.
2. Make sure they are tricks you ALREADY KNOW..
3. NEVER try out NEW tricks at an audition
4. WHEN you perform--MAKE SURE you are performing TO the watching magicians and NOT
to the cards, the table or your hands. LOOK at the audience- Continually and as I said Perform -TO them NOT AT them
Even when giving instructions to the one assisting you. As you give the instructions NEVER forget
the rest of your audience. A quick look at the assistant--( he KNOWS you are talking to him) followed by looks at the audience
Too many magicians when they have a spectator out to assist them--play to the spectator and forget the main audience.
Remember he/she is the audience's representative. THEY are watching you as well as him. NEVER FORGET THEM.
5. OPEN with a preferably VISUAL trick. Keep it FAIRLY short.
CLOSE with what you consider your strongest trick.

6. SOCIETIES are looking at you for mainly 2 things
a. You are SERIOUSLY interested in Magic
b. You are performing with some enjoyment of and enthusiasm for- Magic (EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY BE QUAKING INSIDE)
