Indian Trick.

Postby TDGinge » Oct 11th, '11, 20:34

Hi everyone.

I'm going to a friends birthday bash this Saturday. The theme is 'Indian Delights'.

I was hoping to do a couple of tricks for people, I was thinking a trick with rope (people may know the Indian rope trick) so was going to do my own version with a moving and vanishing knot. Plus a couple more rope effects.

My other idea, is a card trick inspired by the 'this, that and the other' trick. With 3 blank faced cards, yet written on each one of them will be the words:-
You favourite curry
My favourite curry
There favourite curry

I wondered if anyone had any other ideas? Only need 1 or 2 more.

Thanks. Richard.

Probably better if the third card says, "Their favourite curry"!

The Hindu (or Chinese) rice bowls spring to mind, but the normal method ones are a bit awkward to work with and probably not suitable for a party; you haven't really got that long to get up to speed.

Hindu Thread is another obvious one, and a bit more suited to the environment.

The Cups and Balls is quite a common street magician effect. You can get special Indian Cups (more shallow than regular ones, with little handles), but obviously you won't have time to master a different version between now and the weekend!

Other things that could easily be presented in a suitable fashion are the ashes on the palm trick (although I have a feeling this might have been exposed on some TV show, so be warned), travelling salt or water (from hand to hand) and maybe the old Buddha Papers trick. There are probably a lot more, but you don't have long so unless you want to adapt more things you already know, you will have to keep it simple and really sell the tricks on presentation.

Yeah I was hoping to just adapt what I already knew.

Damn spelling! Lol. Whoops

I like te idea of cups and balls.

To be honest, I'm basically trying to adapt patter to make it an Indian theme. Maybe a few beer bottle tricks and possibly some cutlery bending. It's just a case of trying some suited patter.

Cheers.

Buy some Rupees and do a money changing routine.
I will change your £5 into 100.... I did not say pounds !
[100 Rp = about £1.50]

Or adapt any coin routine with indian coins

It is on Saturday, take something you already know and are familiar with and change a word or two. Such as "300 years ago I was traveling, it was a Sunday, And I came upon this 600 year old Indian fellow. He took out this pristine deck of bicycle back cards, complete with air cushioned finish..' Okay maybe not exactly that but you get the idea.

Do the Indian Rope Trick but do it properly. Boy, rope, knife, body parts, etc. It's a real "wow" moment when those bloody limbs start raining from the heavens.

I've seen it performed with a monkey rather than a young boy. No less bloody, but you only have to deal with the RSPCA as opposed to the Rozzers.
