IT Keyring Dispenser

Postby FTHO » Oct 27th, '11, 22:16

Hello all,

I've been working on a little effect which involves the use of a length of IT with a weight on one end.
I'm trying to find a way to make the effect portable, so i can carry it around with me and perform it at my leisure, it would take about 2 seconds to set up as long as i previously had the length of thread (about 2 feet) prepared, with wax on both ends (and ideally a weight on one end, but that can be discreetly added).
So far i've tried wrapping the thread around my wrist and sticking both bits of wax underneath my watch, but my watch usually moves around and snaps the thread. If you could get a watch that dispensed IT that would be amazing, but i couldn't find one.
What i've been looking for since is a keyring that could dispense the thread.I couldn't find any keyring designed to dispense IT, so i looked for one which dispenses dental floss ( http://www.silentkite.co.uk/novelty-key ... ss-keyring )
however a minimum order of 100 is a little too much for me.

does anyone know of any products that would dispense the thread, something that looks a bit every day. i don't think it would look too suspicious taking my keys out of my pocket before the effect, as long as i leave some time between the 2 events.
unwrapping the thread from around my wrist looks particularly dodgy in company. (imagine what it would look like to someone who can't see the thread!)

alternatively does anyone know of any method of storing the thread on my body for a couple of hours, which would allow me instant and unsuspicious access.

thanks for your help,

S

My dental floss (Wisdom) can be prised open so I imagine you could do that and replace the contents.

Not sure dental floss is as "every-day" as you'd like but sorry, I can't help on the keyring theme.

Hope you find something suitable.

why dont you just put a micro ITR inside a wallet, or one of those Key Holders?

or an empty card case.( under the flap.. then you can still have a deck inside if you want!) :D

I'm sure someone was selling just such a watch a few years back. It might no longer be available (and it might not have been much use), but I haven't been able to find it, or remember where I saw it. This isn't much help, apart from the fact that you might not be wasting your time if you persist. Unless this was a particularly vivid dream I once had (vivid, yet detailed and a bit boring).

You're spot on. Unfortunetely I cant remember where i saw it, or the actual product name either. It was definetely available a few years ago though, just as you said.

You can buy an ITR hidden in a pen http://itrmagictricks.com/p7698/Kevlar_ ... _info.html" target="_blank but it is expensive and I don't really see the point as you can hide an ITR easily about your person.

If it's just a short length of thread, 2 feet, you could wax both ends and (if you wear a shirt) fix the ends to the buttons on the shirt down the front of your body, it's pretty much out of the way and easy to access.

I have the watch that has been mentioned. I really like it, (but then I have an odd watch fetish). I didn't really like it for the IT factor as the T tended to break and I tried different kinds, I think it is a flaw in the way it is dispensed and I never looked to try and alter it, although I am sure I can make it work. What I really liked about it was the coin aspect. It made for a killer initialed coin to inside the watch effect. As far as I can tell they are no longer available.

The Turantula on the other hand is a wonderful gimmick and you can adjust it so it gives out only a certain amount of thread. I know a lot of people don't like it and I am not sure why. Perhaps because it is thread and is never easy to work with? Perhaps because one needs to practice? Perhaps because you just can't take it out of the box and go with it, it takes time, adjustments and finesse.
