Handling on Stairway help

Postby aquarog » Nov 4th, '11, 18:22

Hi everyone,

I bought Daniel Garcia's Five for a couple of days and was completely fooled by Marcus Eddie's performances of stairway. The instructions are really detailed and step by step, but for the life of me I can't seem to get a certain part of the handling down

Without wanting to give too much away, after I'm set up for the trick, once the note has moved up to the second step, when I go to move the note to the third step, the rubber band on bottom keeps flinging out from between my little and ring finger.

If anyone could give me any tips on this i'd be forever in your debt and sell you my soul... Or just be very greatful :)

What you could do is get your two pinkys and extend them out. Then bring them back in OVER the bottom band from the outside. This will keep them from slipping off .

Do you get me?

Hope that makes sense

Thanks very much for the help Flood, that does make sense :) I think I'm getting it down now with your little adjustment. I'll keep working on the original handling too in case I can get used to it, I'll probably just stick with yours though!

Thanks again

Yeah I found that I had very similar problems with the trick. You just need to keep trying and trying. This trick really does require practice to overcome this problem because you are pretty much tying your hands up with elastics and then stretching them which puts a lot of pressure on your fingers.

Practice I think is the best solution:)

It also helps if you keep all fingers tight together, and only move a little bit the ones that you need, when it's time for the move. Otherwise all setup falls apart. I'm sure you'll get it.

Yeah, it felt really unnatural to start with but I think I'm getting the hang of it now :)

Thanks for the tip jakubr! I'll keep my fingers nice and tight till things need to happen :)
