MASTER PREDICTION SYSTEM ECONOMIC version

Postby Allen Tipton » Nov 7th, '11, 19:36

I have looked at a number of Prediction Chests with my son, who is at Lisbon University. We both like--the Master Prediction System, ECONOMIC version. A simple chest suspended in the air, Later lowered down, put on a table and inside a large plastic cylinder. In the cylinder--the prediction, written a a very large piece of paper and removed by a spectator.
Now we know the main workings BUT

Have any of you guys bought this prop.

Is it as well made as the adverts say it is etc. etc.

Need to know as Mike is paying his own way through University, supplementing this with his magic shows.
And I do not want him to waste his hard earned money

Thanks for your help in advance

if it is one of the many sub standard copy versions out there, with a seriously thick table.. dont bother.
Personaly, If Mike is on a budget, i would suggest considering using a drum head tube, which can be sealed, and suspended.. and yet a prediction can still be removed .

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Not sure if this will serve your purposes, Alan - but I've heard good things about this one:

http://www.marketplaceofthemind.com/balls.html

It's said to be a very bold method, and for $5, it's in everyone's price range.

I know Craig has spoken of the MPS before on these boards, so maybe do a search or pm him about it. I'm pretty sure he can help. He has also, like Dale, warned people off of the rip-offs.

Thank you again Dale.Although iver the years I have used the Drumhead load--never thought of it for Predictions. And Mike has a Production Drum which uses that principle!!
He also has a brilliant method via an American, Ted Lesley, me & his own creative thought--just using signed by spectator (even the Prediction)with envelopes. But like a lot of us at that age--he just loves--apparatus.

Thank you Demetri--I have sent for 'balls'. Worth a look at that price.

Allen, It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this once you've taken a look.

Paul Stockman's 'Impossible Envelope' is the same effect for a lot less. It looks much more natural as well.

Thank you Phillip I will look

Stefan O's BALLS is a cobination of tested, known principles.
It certainly is a workable method --simple to make up--almost no outlay--the only 'move' is a natural one.
One to keep in mind
And he replied about an hour after I sent for it.
Worth the £3+ for the 7 page manuscript.

To my knowledge Doug Malloy is the ONLY "legal" resource on this effect in that Dick Zimmerman still supplies the plastic cylinder so it meets with his specifications for quality.

There are several hack versions out there but I've heard some embarrassing tales around them, especially if they come out of South & Central America, Mexico and China (four of the key regions for knock-off manufacturing).

Yes, Paul's "Impossible Envelope" can be used in this manner and then some, which brings up a very important point. To me the whole suspended chest, etc. is perfect for a family Magic Show in which a magician wants to toss in something that looks Psychic. For a working Mentalist however, who strives for realism in his act, the Envelope is superior because it is more innocent and does not come off looking like a magic trick. . . something that really needs to be weighed.

There is a very easy and inexpensive version, where an envelope is suspended above the stage. It is included in the excellent Pocket Magic by Peter Eldin.

Technically one could use Sylvester's version which is somewhat the same -- a suspended envelop -- I've used it several times and I do believe Kevin James has used it here and there.

Do you have any extra info on the Sylvester version (e.g. links)?
