Common Extra postage costs ???

Postby Danny Joseph » Nov 9th, '11, 19:34

Hey forum,

So soon I'll be finalizing an order to Ellusionist for various goods and props.

Ususally in the past I've just used the USPS 1st Class post which takes 2 weeks. I've learn't that when using this if the value of items is above £45 theres a hidden charge of about £10 you have to pay when it arrives.

This time round I'm wanting to use the UPS Air option (as it takes 1-3 biz days) and just want to know what common hidden charges would be worth considering?

The package being delivered would be $215.50 (£135.11) value, but weight wise pretty light.

Thanks allot :)

They're not actually hidden, just the additional fees imposed by the carrier for processing imported goods in terms of any duty and VAT payable. Each carrier should be able to tell you what those charges are. Duty will be extra and the amount depends on the classification, VAT will be at 20% on top of the value plus duty payable and possibly an element of any insurance included to cover the shipment.
