I found a lovely little murder trial in the archives of the Old Bailey, where a woman, after one of the frost fairs in 1709 (when the river froze over and got turned into a market) who went on the ice when it was breaking up, and pushed a child under it. Horrific, but symptomatic of the times. There is no shortage of material, but some of the suggestions I am getting here are pushing me in interesting directions, and throwing up new stories. I am enjoying the whole process.
