Christmas Charity Challenge - the teaser

Postby MiKo » Dec 1st, '11, 12:23

Following the great success of Ted's Headache Thread®, I have decided to set up my own challenge for you all. It will be probably ready by tonight or tomorrow at latest.

The challenge

I will publish an encoded message, you will have to find the solution and post it.
This will probably be a multi-level challenge, i.e. decoding the decoded message is not the solution to the puzzle, you will have to find it out.
This challenge will be for everybody, no programming skill will be required, all the necessary tools will be available for free.
I will be posting clues and hint until the end date of the challenge.

EDIT: Someone has already accepted to contribute, so there will be an actual prize for the winner :D

The prize

Since I cannot provide an appropriate magic prize, if and when the puzzle is solved I will donate an amount of money to charity. I'll set a starting amount of money and add some more every day the puzzle goes unsolved. Notice that this is something which goes in addition to my usual donations, so it is a real prize, in someway.
Although I am not sure yet, I think that the chosen charity is Save the Children.

Important note for authors

If you want to contribute to this challenge by offering some of your products to the winner, please contact me via PM. I will match the name value of the offered prize and add it to the amount I'm going to donate. Up to a certain limit: I still have my rent to pay :)

I will set the details depending on the answers to this post.

A final note: I'm an atheist, but this doesn't stop me from liking Christmas as a good occasion to donate to charity. So whatever your beliefs are, go on and participate :)

Thanks! And you are not alone! The prize is getting more and more value, but I'll keep it secret for the moment. Otherwise it won't be a teaser :)

So more or less everything is ready, I've prepared a nice challenge (with a slight "bizarre" twist) and have had great response, so the prize will be well worth. Unfortunately, I've been called for an unforeseen tango DJing session, so I won't be able to post the challenge before tomorrow or tonight quite late.

Thanks again to those have agreed so far :)
