there is a lot of good advice on this post already. It is a normal process that people go through when they learn anything new. Initially there is a surge of learning. Then after a period of time the amount of time practicing reduces. When I started I practiced all the hours I could now I spend my time. Keeping routine fresh and practice alterations. I also put aside some time where I can learn new effects and skills. I do this separate from my every day practice it is when I concentrate on new effect of stuff that I might not use in my performances but are fun and keeps me fresh interested and upto date with different things.
I think the advice here about performing infront of people is very important and is a necessity for developing in magic.
