Regression & phychic hypnosis courses.

Postby daxi » Dec 17th, '11, 10:42

I trained & worked as a hypnotist doing what can most easily be described as therapeutic type work. Not that there is anything therapeutic about making people realise they don't need to do A B or C. But that they just choose to allow themselves do it via their thought patterns. But it probably describes best what I did to most people.
I have been reading a fair bit about hypnosis in magic & it's a whole new world to that which I am use to & one that is far removed from my old way of doing things. But past life regression, astral projection & building psychic ability etc is not. And it's part of a world that has interested me for some time & where the language is familiar to me.
So I am thinking that maybe this is the area I should consider developing my magic interest in. I have read reviews of Paul Voodini's work & it looks to be more theatrical magic than I want, so can anyone suggest a writer who writes informatively & with knowledge in this area?
I already use marked Tarot cards to do readings using accepted terminology & symbolism of the cards when they are face down. I currently have book one of Naked Mentalism with 2 & 3 sitting upstairs waiting for the 25th. And I already have a few books by Kenton Kepper on cold reading which help me to use a basic level of cold reading in my Tarot readings.
Basically what I am looking for is something that is plain & clean, nothing that relies upon image or slight. I could easily probably do it myself with a reasonable level of success, but I would rather do it properly from the start.

Paul Voodini's Midnight Side of the Mind certainly covers all this. Despite what you may have heard, Paul's book not only goes through his routine as an illustration of how he does things but gives all the details necessary for anyone to cretae their own way of doing Past Life Regression and/or Remote Viewing. I've exchanged emails wih Paul regarding a wider use of the technique and it seems I'm not on my own, many others have been in touch with him to pass on their experiences and uses. The basic technique is very simple and is as far removed from conjuring type magic as you can get, there are no props, no gimmicks, no sleights - just you and the subject. There are opportunities to involve a whole roomful of people as well if it suits the event. Paul will be sending out updates from time to time, the first was sent out a couple of weeks ago so it's not a static or finite book by any means.

Midnight Side of the Mind can be used for both a theatrical demonstration of past life regression and for a more intimate experience. The inspiration for the book was my own stage shows where the participant demonstrates past life regression, remote viewing, and astral projection. However it is by no means a flippant or jokey presentation. The participant genuinely experiences the phenomena, and it is that genuine quality that captivates and entertains the audience.

However since publishing the book I have had many emails from people who have taken the theory behind Midnight Side of the Mind and use it for their own relaxation/therapy, or have adapted it for use in the hypnotherapy room.

The book also encourages the reader to imagine their own applications for the basic structure, and find ways of utilising the methods that fit in with their own needs. The book now also comes with the first supplement free of charge, and there will be further free supplements over the coming months.

There. Shameless plug over!

Paul's book is the most detailed I can think of for a magic audience. Freddie Valentine's occult magic 2 has a little bit on trance medium time travel. Richard Webster has a book on past life memories. It's written for the general public, but his background in magic, mentalism and the shut eye market makes his books worth a read. I don't have this one, but I've always found his shut eye books excellent resources for giving me extra detail on any subject.

Are you familiar with the works of Anthony Jacquin and James Tripp.
They combine hypnosis and magic to great effect. Their background is similar to yours and they may be able to offer you some great advice on using your hypnosis/hypnotherapy skills in magic performances.

Anthony: www.headhacking.com also produces books and dvds such as 'reality is plastic' and 'Mancurian effect'
James: www.hypnosiswithouttrance.com

Thank you all.
Discombobulator..Yes I have certainly heard of Anthony Jacquin & the name James Tripp also rings bells.
Jobasha ...Thank you, I had heard of Richard Webster &
Everyone else. Thank you for that it looks like following Christmas it's the Midnight Side of the Mind & then some serious reading & homework required to make it worth while.
Someone actually contacted me a few weeks ago to ask if I was interested in being part of a past life regression group & that was as I'm a hypnotist & he needs one. This would be a good place to experiment & develop.

I used to do a ton of past life regressions through hypnosis in Ireland. For some reason I gave it up completely when I came to Canada even though it is very popular here. I do know that I got more publicity from past life regressions than I even got from psychic readings.

As a hypnotherapist specialising in PLR I probably get more client enquiries about that than anything else.

I tried once to conduct a group session but it wasn't very successful. I think it's something that really needs to be done 121.

BTW, for anyone reading this who hasn't had hypnotherapy training - I'd steer clear of PLR if I were you. It can bring up some heavy stuff.

I do have the advantage that I know that hypnosis is a load of old cobblers and the punters reciting their past lives are just making it all up. And of course since you are taking them back to a PAST life you are not dregging up memories from their present life.

The best book on this subject is "Cashing in on Past Lives" by Richard Webster.

My attitude exactly. But my background has not always been like this, so I know the language & belief system of those who do.

I think I saw this as a free pdf download somewhere & not being sure of what it was I did not take a look.

These free downloads without the approval of the author are quite sickening. I really do not approve of this modern world.

I do not know if this was a...."Without" out the authors approval or not download. I remember seeing it, but I'm not sure where. I recently downloaded an amateur radio related pdf where you had to create a account to download it for free, so they knew who was reading it, part of that account included a agreement that you would not sell it on, or even pass it on. But instead tell others where to get it for free. A reasonable request.
